Pic’s from Versu Ricelieu’s 72-hour live build

I just dropped in on Versu Richelieu’s live 72-hour build
taking place both in the real world and in Second Life.
Starting this morning at 7am, Millions of Us employee
Versu Richelieu  entered the store window of computer store Datavision in Manhattan at 39th
Street and 5th Avenue.

For the next three days, sheโ€™ll be conducting an
experiment in high-speed building and virtual living, recreating in
Second Life the surrounding blocks of New York. You can watch her build
live with two simultaneous webcams in SL and the real world here.

See the Millions of Us Blog for details.

Here are my pics of Versu from about 7pm today. More pics after the jump…

That’s me, in front of the window trying not to bother the master builder. Passersby seemed genuinely puzzled. A gaggle of geeks watched Versu in rapt silence.  One guy asked when she was going to take her clothes off.

It’s a very, very cramped space.  I certainly wouldn’t want to spend a whole day in there, much less three.  She sleeps on the floor at night on a tiny mattress.  She can only leave for bathroom breaks.

That’s my avatar in front of Versus’ virtual storefront.

Moo Money made her own sign to hold up against the window.  So funny!

The sad part is that the Versu is recreating a part of Manhattan that is particularly boring.  There really isn’t much worth seeing at 39th Street and Fifth Avenue.  Next time, Versu should plant herself somewhere in Chinatown, Sunnyside or Williamsburg.

Rik, live-‘n’-direct on the scene! Very nice!
I’m not familiar much with the geography of NY, but it would be cool if afterwards, Versu could enhance this block of real estate and shape it into her own whims. After doing works like Kasteel Verloren and some Transylvanian magic, I know she can imbue the urban with the mystical!

I just visited Versu today. What’s funny that wasn’t immediately obvious was that there’s no way to talk to her from the outside, or hear. I did get permission from the sponsors working with 1^6(us) to peak my head in the back and say hi, and lend some support. ๐Ÿ™‚
