Here's a really well-produced instructional video on how to do the "Shim Sham Shimmy," a popular line dance that is performed at swing dances all around the world. The video project was conceived and created by lindy hoppers Patrick and Natasha of Montreal. Here's why they made this video:
We all know how frustrating it is to be a beginner swing dancer,
get to an event and at some point in the evening see all the other
dancers gather in the middle of the dance floor and start this line
dance that everybody seems to know but you… We've all been there! That's why we've decided to teach the Shim Sham here online!
What's cool is that not only can you watch the video online to see the entire line dance again and again, but embedded in the video are links to videos of the different swing dance moves in the line dance, including the "Tacky Annie" and the "push and cross-over." Clicking those links takes you to more detailed breakdowns of how to do those steps, explained by Patrick and Natasha.
I wish they had this back when I was trying to learn the Shim Sham. Old timers like me had to just fake it for years in the back of the crowd before we slowly got into our pea brains the basics of the Shim Sham. Now most anyone can learn it, which is awesome.

It took me also a while to learn the Shim Sham when I was starting Lindy Hop 🙂
We really hope that will be useful for dancers not lucky enough to have a teacher available to learn it from.
