Stop what you are doing, turn up the speakers on your computer, and prepare to get happy! Producer / musician Pharrell Williams has released this epic "24 Hours of Happy" music video that will take over your week, if not longer.
Not only is the song damn catchy, but it features literally 24 hours of fantastic dancing, from ballerinas, poppers, breakers and several lindy hoppers. So far I have IDed the following swing dancers:
- Brian Lee and Deanna O'Bryan at about 9:08am
- Nick Williams and Nicki Marvin at about 1:32pm [youtube direct link]
- Jonathan Redavid and Minn Vo at about 2:20pm [youtube direct link]
Of course there are hundreds of other awesome dancers doing their thing, as well as a number of celebrities peppered in there, from Steve Carell to Jamie Fox to Magic Johnson.
What's amazing is that reportedly all shots were done in one take. From the Neptunes blog:
Though most of the people auditioned, a few were cast on the spot. “If we saw someone who looked cool on the street, we’d ask if they wanted to be in a Pharrell video and they jumped at the chance,” says Valdes. Those chosen by audition had the advantage of getting the song in advance, allowing them to rehearse their moves. But on the day itself, everyone got just one take, including Pharrell. “That’s what accounts for the charm,” says Valdes. “Everyone knew they had one shot–this was their moment to go all out, and we love that.”
Head here for the full web experience. You can also watch the boring old regular music video on YouTube, as well as the entire 24 hours in three separate clips on the Neptunes site. Turn it up!
