Two Youth Digital Science Programs at the Cal Academy This Summer!

If you know of a middle school or high school age young person who might be interested in engaging with science using technology, the California Academy of Sciences announces two summer intensives taking place in June and July!

The Pearson Young Scientists Program is a two-week summer intensive from June 19-29 for 5th to 8th graders.  The students will come to the Academy every day, plus get to go to two trips to Mount Tamalpais.  The focus is on "citizen science," where the students will get to learn how everyday people can be a part of scientific inquiry, by engaging in a "bio-blitz" at Mt. Tam.  From their experience, students will get to create a mobile game experience that will teach visitors about the natural landscape and how it has changed over the years.

The Science in Action Program is another two-week summer intensive from July 16-27 geared toward high school age youth.  Youth will work with the Academy's in-house visualization studio to create 1-3 minute  videos about current topics in science to air in the Science in Action exhibit and on the Academy website.  This is a great opportunity for a young person interested in filmmaking or science.
