oLive Dance Theatre's SWIFT SOLOS from Hip-Hop Theater Festival on Vimeo.
This year's Hip Hop Theater Festival features a show I'm very excited to see: "Swift Solos." "Swift Solos" is a series of vignettes based on the dance legacy of legendary b-boy Ken Swift. From his early years as an up-and-coming dancer, to joining Rock Steady Crew, to battles and performances during the height of his career, this looks like a promising retrospective on his enormous contributions to b-boying as an artform.
Ken has long been an inspiration to me as an "elder" in the b-boy scene who is still practicing his craft well into his 40s. Anything that celebrates his contributions to the craft I totally down for, and you should be too.
The show runs from September 29 to October 2 at Dance Theater Workshop, 219 West 19th Street, NYC.
Check out the rest of the schedule of the festival on their website.
Nice!
