Just when I thought I had seen everything in Second Life, I stumbled upon a Second Life Wii-style game system called "Pineplay." It's the first time I've encountered a game where I have to control my avatar who is himself controlling the game character in a simulated console game. It reminded me of that infamous scene from the TV show "The Office" where the character Dwight proudly boasts that he has created "Second Second Life" so people can escape life even further.
Right now Pineplay has three games you can play: "Guitar Virtuouso," Tennis, and "I Need Speed." Obviously riffs on popular console games for the Wii and X-Box. I was only able to play "Guitar Virtuouso" in their in-world store (click here to teleport) but I found it really fun and well-designed. I'm dying to try out "I Need Speed" so my avatar can control a tinier avatar driving a virtual virtual sports car on a simulated TV displayed on my computer screen. Woot!
Pineplay was created by Kobzee Kovacs.
