I just got the exciting news from my friend, machinima journalist Draxtor Despres, that in the new year he will be filing stories for PBS's Frontline/World television show!
Check out this neat interview with Draxtor on KAZU radio in Monterrey, which does a nice profile of this award-winning journalist and broke the news about Drax's new assignment. FRONTLINE/World is a national public TV series that "turns its lens on the global community, covering countries and cultures rarely seen on American television." Apparently now they are expanding to the virtual world as well!
For those that don't know Draxtor's work, he has been filing regular dispatches from the virtual world, intermixing avatar interviews, real world video and photos, and machinima footage, all held together by his unique commentary. He even composes the original music that plays in the background!
With the departure of a number of notable news agencies from SL (Reuters, CNET, WIRED, etc), it's good to see Draxtor's excellent reporting going to a much broader audience. I can't think of a better person to translate all of the cool stuff that happens in the metaverse to the general public.
