I’m excited to announce that the 2008 Machinima Festival is set for Saturday, November 1st at the fabulous Eyebeam studios in New York City. This is a historic period in the emergence of machinima as its own form of media, with more filmmakers, genres, and tools than ever before making this a truly public and distributed form of personal expression.
Eyebeam — a funky laboratory of cool collaborative art / tech projects — is the perfect venue for the Machinima fest, which gathers some of the finest talent from around the world in this emerging digital artform.
The whole program is available online, featuring panels and discussions on everything from "is machinima art?" to sound production and youth-produced digital films. The fest concludes with a gala awards ceremony for the winners of 14 categories of machinima prizes at 8pm. See all the nominees here.
This year the festival is entirely FREE, so plan on coming for the whole day.
