I just loaded up some more really cool video clips of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings bringing the soul to Central Park Summerstage last Sunday. These vids can’t compare to being in the presence of Ms. Jones and the Dap-Kings, but they should give you at least a taste of the raw energy and joyful noise that they make.
More clips after the jump…
Naomi Shelton and the Gospel Queens as one of the opening acts performed the funkiest gospel you’ve ever heard. Ms. Shelton had such passion and spirit that she had us all dancing and clapping like being at the coolest church service you ever attended. And you gotta love the silver sequin hat and matching sneakers.
Here’s a clip of Sharon Jones demonstrating one of the many 60s era steps, the "Camelwalk."
Later she did the "Watusi," the "Mashed Potato," and the "Tighten Up," among many others. Here she is doing the "Strut." Go on with your bad self!
