I’ve decided that I don’t have the time or energy to devote to building out Yehoodi’s in-world presence in Second Life anymore. I do believe there are interesting ways that virtual worlds could be used to promote lindy hop and swing jazz. I would still love to host in-world interviews with jazz artists and dancers, throw vintage themed dance parties, stream in real-world lindy hop events, and sponsor the creation of authentic jazz dance animations.
But I have to admit to myself that I am too busy with Global Kids, other Yehoodi projects and my own real world dancing to spend the time necessary to make this work. I would rather open up our space so that another non-profit gets a
chance to set up their own virtual office in the Non-profit Commons, where Yehoodi’s offices have been located for the past year-and-a-half or so.
I’ve enjoyed very much working and playing in the Nonprofit Commons. I’ve had some amazing times there, from DJing my first dance party, to speaking at various functions in the NPC, to collaborating with other non-profit organizers from all over. Most of my best friends from Second Life have come from the NPC!
So it is with some mixed emotion that I decide to close Yehoodi’s office there. But I think it’s the right decision. Thanks so much to TechSoup and Glitteractica Cookie for letting us crash in their sim and supporting Yehoodi for such a long time!
