I’m up in lovely Danvers, Massachusetts for the “Boston Tea Party”
— a weekend long bachannal of swing dancing competitions,
performances, and social dancing. The event is unique because it
brings together the lindy hop and the West Coast flavors of the swing
dance world, sub-genres which usually hold their own separate
competitions, exchanges and camps.
I’m looking forward to dancing until the wee hours, inspired
competition performances, and hanging out with friends, old and new.
Oh, and I’m competing in the advanced “Jack and Jill” lindy
competition, mostly because it’s more entertaining to participate than
to watch a “Jack and Jill.” Hopefully I won’t embarass myself too badly.
The video above shows a bunch of enthusiastic students at a lindy hop
class that was going on when I arrived. Looks like a fun routine.
Thank you very much for posting this… it was one of the few classes I didn’t get a wrap up video on. And interestingly enough, you got me dead center in the background next to Dorry Segev. Nice. Hope to see more video.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. More video here: http://www.rikomatic.com/2008/03/lindy-hop-jam-a.html
