Barry and Rafi from Global Kids with me in the center at the 2007 Second Life Community Convention, by Empathetics on Flickr
As I posted about previously, I had not the greatest Monday ever with the announcement that I (along with 21 other Electric Sheep employees) was being let go effective immediately. A million thanks for the outpouring of support and condolences by folks from all over!
As I predicted, another door has opened up. I’m estatic to report that I’ll be starting in January as a Second Life Producer working my friends at the Online Leadership Program at Global Kids. For those that don’t know, Global Kids aims to "transform urban youth into successful students and global and community leaders by engaging them in socially dynamic, content-rich learning experiences." They are one of the most active and creative non-profits working in the Second Life Teen Grid, among the other technology platforms they work with.
More soon as the job develops, but suffice to say that I am very excited to be working with my friends Barry and Rafi and the rest of the team at Global Kids. W00T!
Welcome to the team Rik! We’re glad that you weren’t scared off by those of us that have a tendency to look insane during photographs. 😉
Wow, that sounds like the perfect job for you Rik, congratulations, glad you landed right on your feet.
Congratulations! I have a lot of respect for the work of Global Kids. I believe you will enjoy the work tremendously!
Thanks folks!
You’re like an unstoppable juggernaut of employability. Wow. Congrats! 🙂
