Pics from the Machinima Fest Awards last night – congrats all!

Here are some pics from the Machinima Festival final awards ceremony last night, that look place in the real Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY and was simulcast in a packed Virtual Laguna Beach Theater in Second Life.  I was on a somewhat sketchy wifi connection in Greece, but it seemed like a great event in both worlds.

Congrats to all the winners, especially KBS Productions in France for bringing home the "Best Picture" prize, as well as several other "Mackies," for their film "The Adventures of Bill  & John: Danger Attacks at Dawn." Kudos also to Eric at Linden Labs for bringing home the "best commercial" Mackie for "Silver Bells and Golden Spurs."

The Festival continues today with a wrap-up showing of the awards reel and a live "Machinima Jam" featuring my buddy and machinimator par excellent Friedrich Kirschner.

More pics after the jump….

The Electric Sheep guys were clearly taking advantage of the open bar during the festival.

    Hi Rik,
What an awesome experience. I loved that I was sitting in a virtual theatre, watching a real life presentation of 3D films all made in virtual worlds. What a mind twist. Thanks to you and the team for making it possible – we could never have afforded to come from Sydney but this way got to experience the whole thing, and see Hugh Hancock accept our award on our behalf. Thanks again!

Next year, we’ll find a way to have the virtual participants be able to interact more with the real world participants, and even accept awards in Second Life!
Glad you had a good time.
