I had four occasions to dance in public this weekend. I’m proud of myself that in all of those situations, I effing DANCED.
I remember what it was like to hear awesome music and feel the urge to dance, but stop myself for so many dumb reasons — The fear of looking dumb, of being seen, of dancing “incorrectly” to that genre of music, of being “that weirdo”, of being teased by your friends or family. So many stupid excuses.
In my old age, I’m happy that I’ve worked through and left that behind. When I see crowds of people watching a band or a DJ play, I can see in the eyes of people that they WANT to dance, but feel like they can’t, for whatever reason. I’m done with that ish.
If I want to dance, I just dance.
