I’m happy to report that I got through the first week (well five days) of intermittent fasting, and it was pretty painless! Sticking to the 16:8 fasting / eating schedule has so far been easy. I’ve been doing 7pm-11am as my typical fasting window, which basically means no eating after dinner and no breakfast.
The hardest part of the day so far has been that last hour before the end of my fast. So I have been trying to make sure I’m busy at those times with meetings and tasks I like to do, to make the time pass quicker. On several occasions I exceeded my fasting window without noticing it.
At the same time, getting to eat foods that were strictly off limits during my no-sugar, low carb diet has been amazing. Folks, sandwiches are so yummy. Rice is the best thing ever.
Obviously too early to tell if there is any real health impact. My energy has been quite good, whether it’s general alertness or while exercising. So that’s a good sign.
