Today was the first time in years that I have given a message at Quaker Meeting for Worship. It was during Brooklyn Monthly Meeting’s virtual meeting, which I have been to a few times since the pandemic. Here’s what I shared:
Friends, I have been thinking about this new structure for our Meeting. I think that for awhile this format is going to be front of mind for us, until it stops being so weird.
Today I am thinking about how meeting in this way offers us an opportunity to see into each other’s lives, into each other’s homes. I can see your living rooms, your bed rooms, your backyards. I see you with your families, your pets.
There is something quite intimate about this. I feel like I have been invited into your homes and I am inviting you into mine. And that is a blessing.
