This week I announced to the world that Yehoodi.com was closing after 25 years of service to the Lindy Hop community. It was a bittersweet announcement.
Sad, because it’s always sad to see something you loved and poured your heart into for so long come to an end. But happy too, because it’s good to let things go and move on to other important things in your life.
Here’s what I posted…
Yes, it’s true: after a quarter century of serving the lindy hop community, Yehoodi.com is shutting down. We’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished in this time, from our wildly popular online forums, to our many crazy media projects, to live broadcasts of ILHC and Frankie100, to our news and commentary we’ve shared over the years.
So why quit? While lindy hop continues to grow and evolve, the Yehoodi team has moved on to other projects. And we’re confident that there are others ready to take on the work.
Meanwhile, we’d like to mark this occasion to celebrate all that we accomplished together as a community. But we need your help! Between now and August, we want to collect as many stories and anecdotes as possible about how Yehoodi has impacted your life.
- Did something on Yehoodi make you laugh?
- Did you learn something because of Yehoodi?
- Were you connected to a community?
- Did you meet a friend (or a life partner)?
We want to know!
To participate: Join our Yehoodi History Facebook Group or just email rik@yehoodi.com.
We’ll be dropping some prompts into the FB group in the coming weeks to get the conversation started. Join us there and go down memory lane with us!
