We had an unexpected day off at work because of Juneteenth, which I decided to spend going back to the Alameda County Fair, which I haven’t been to for at least two decades. I have fond memories of going to the fair as a young person. But would it live up to the nostalgia after all this time?
Good News: The Alameda County Fair was everything I remembered from my youth and more. Some of the incredible stuff that we packed into 8 hours:
- Dancing at a silent disco and with a DJ on wheels
- Pig races
- The model train diorama
- a motocross show
- Janky but fun rides
- Cool and offbeat arts and crafts: table setting, collections, baked goods!
- Cute livestock
- Fair food – the best funnel cake, a corn dog slathered in cheese and Taki powder, deep fried cookie dough, and coffee made by a robot
- An epic closing drone show
Thanks to my work buddy Jenna for being the perfect fair companion! And special guest appearance by work friend Almetria and cousin Thomas and family!
We literally shut the fair down as the rides were turned off at 11pm. Epic epic day.
