In honor of Domestic
Violence Awareness Month, real life women’s legal advocate Ziolla Magpie will be launching
a “Silent Witness” display on October 1 to create awareness of the victims
of domestic violence around the United States. The installation
features a ring of sillouettes with word bubbles containing various statistics
about domestic violence in different states. Visitors can learn out about the
pervasiveness of the problem, find support groups, and wear a solidarity pin. The display is actually up now, if you’d like to visit. (Direct teleport here.)
nice awareness memorial- i left a candle and am wearing the ribbon.
I realise this is an old blog entry by now, but you may be interested to learn that with the permission of Ziolla herself, I made a video tour of the display – you can see a version of it at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8641115756819649936 .
(I’m Kiwi Alfa in-world – if you need proof of this let me know your SL name and I can IM you. ;p)
That’s awesome! Thanks for doing this. It’s a very worthwhile cause, obviously, and anything folks can do to bring greater attention to domestic violence issues is much welcomed.
Thanks guys.
