Tonight I had a super-fun time dancing at the Jazz Jam in Stockholm Sweden this evening. A competition, concert and swing dance, it's quite a full evening of entertainment for anyone who loves swing and jazz.
I originally wanted to enter the Jack and Jill competition, since I find watching them less fun than participating. But it was full by the time I got to the front of the line of competitors. Luckily my friend Marie was there because there were still slots in the strictly lindy division, so we entered as a couple.
I had no ambition other than to finish the first round of the strictly lindy without totally embarassing myself. The competition was ridiculously intense, with Frida and Zack, Paul and Sharon and other legendary dancers in the same group. Marie and I did respectable, I think, without any showstopper moves, but performing some solid lindy. (Thanks to Odella for filming us dancing!)
Above, you can see the crazy finals of the strictly division. Head below for links to other videos I took….
[UPDATED 8/11/10: I added more HD quality videos from Stockholm. check em out!]
Here's Marie and I (and others) in the opening heat of the strictly lindy competition:

It was a really great event, and a wonderful finale to my time in Sweden for the Herrang Dance Camp. Congrats to the organizers for pulling off a really cool competition and dance!
I do feel like dancing seeing this video. I am too a good dancer.
