I got a (somewhat illicit) sneak peak at the Virtual Aloft hotel built within Second Life last month (direct teleport here). They have been quietly opening the Aloft Island for visitors and I got to get a closer look at it today. It’s come quite a ways since my last visit a month ago. What’s most noticeable are the little details in the build. Here’s some pics and comments after the jump…
There’s lots of wonderful little accents and nuanced items in the main lobby area of the hotel.
This is a cushioned seat with a subtle texture and shadow effect applied to it.
Here’s a closeup of a pebble texture applied to the lobby information counter.
This lamp gives off a soft glow. Notice the electric outlet!
Exposed pipes and ducts are so hip!
There’s even emergency exit signs in case of, uh, grid attacks, I guess.
Lots of nice snacks in the cafe in case you get the munchies.
The bedroom has all the creature comforts, including a coffee maker, magazines, and extra pillows in the closet. Hey, I think I own that shirt!
I love the branded toiletries.
Yes, they have all of your needs in mind.
The bed was super comfy. Clearly posture-pedic, although I couldn’t find the switch for the magic fingers.
Very generous room sizes, with space for quite a virtual room party. Where’s the mini-bar though?
As I walked out into the night air, the romantic lights and outdoor sofas made me wish for company. There’s a stage nearby, where I’m sure a hipster DJ will be spinning at some point soon.
What is the brand name of the sliding mirror door used in your Charlotte Hotel?
