I’m excited to report that I’ll be contributing to the pre-eminent blog on all things Second Life "New World Notes" run by the intrepid embedded journalist, Hamlet Au. Specifically, I’ll be covering the "events of the week" section, helping point residents to interesting and fun happenings that they might want to participate in. More info on what sorts of events we’re interested in and how to submit listings after the jump…
If you’d
like an event to be considered, send the description
and event link to Rik Riel via IM or e-mail him at rikomatic@yahoo.com.
Main guidelines:
- Events for the coming week must be received by Monday Noon SLT.
- Events posted in SL’s official listing board greatly preferred.
- Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
- Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are usually not appropriate to NWN Events. Instead, consider advertising your event on New World Notes.
- Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and for events with "I’ve never seen that in SL before" value.
I already try and stay abreast of the most interesting events happening in SL. So this is a collaboration that I think will be mutually beneficial for myself and NWN.
This saturday is the Grand Opening coz finaly it’s ready, the Monastery of Felix Meritis.
Januari 2007 I started building the Monastery and Valley of Felix Meritis. Buying big plots of land to ensure the peace and quietness of the valley made it into this spectacular area. It’s a full monastry in Italian Renaissance Style. The second Chapel and Chapter Room are based on Romanesque Spanish Architecture.
The monastery is for those who are looking for some peace and releaf in SL. It is not constructed to serve God but for those who want – you are free to come. The buildings offer a variety of rooms where ppl can sit in silence, or debate about life, faith, arts, architecture, and God if you like.
Drinks, Chats, and Guided Tours through the monastery and valley.

Hundreds of Buddhist monks are being arrested in government raids on monasteries in Myanmar (Burma) after leading large protests against the military regime. Help show support for these people by joining us in a vigil on Saturday 9/29 at 12 noon PDT on Odyssey.
