We had a beautiful Quaker meeting for worship in Second Life this morning with about 16 or attenders filling the benches .
I had recently discovered that if you put your computer to sleep without logging out of SL, the program sort of freezes the last scene in place. When you re-open your computer, it appears that your avatar has not moved from the last place you left him, and all the other avatars are frozen in their places. Almost as if everyone were patiently waiting for me to return to SL.
I imagined putting my laptop to sleep at that exact moment at the virtual Quaker meeting. Then whenever I would open the lid of my laptop I would find all my fellow Quakers still there surrounding me. I drew strange comfort from that notion.
