Here’s a reminder that tomorrow, June 22, at 9AM PST, Jonathan Fanton, the president of the MacArthur
Foundation, and Philip Rosedale, CEO of Linden Labs, will come in-world
for a conversation on the role of philanthropy in virtual worlds. I just got another message about the event with a new location and dropped in to check it out. The discussion will now take place at the Philanthropy sim (teleport SLURL). (I had previously reported that it was going to take place on the USC Annenberg sim.)
I happened to run into Mr. Fanton’s avatar and got a quick pic. The skin could use some work, he’s a bit slimmer than the real world model, but hey isn’t that true of all of us?
Seriously, this is an important event if this initiates a sustained engagement of the philanthropic sector with virtual worlds.
