The official launch of the Non-profit Commons Sim was a great success this evening, I’m proud to report. With 100-ish avatars and another 80-some people at the real world event in San Francisco, we exceeded our goals for the party. Kudos to our intrepid leader Glitteractica Cookie of Techsoup, In Kenzo of Amoration, Anshe Chung for her donation of the sim, and Jeska Linden for her guidance and support.
I’ve got a few nice pics up on flickr now. Other people will be uploading theirs soon, if they haven’t already.
I love this picture of In Kenzo, with the video of her real life alter-ego Evonne in the background.
And here’s Glitteractica Cookie with her counterpart Susan on the video screen.
The after-party swing dance that I DJed was a lot of fun. It was cool seeing some real world friends come into SL for the party, as well as hang out with SL friends. I enjoyed putting together the music set, taking requests, and goofing around with the partygoers.
Now that I know how easy it is, I’d love to DJ again in SL sometime in the future. Anyone need a swing or dance DJ?
Rik,
Thanks so much for all you do to help this nonprofit community in SL! Also, next time I need an in-world DJ, you got teh gig! I watched the swing dance party from he room in RL and it looked like a blast!
The event was indeed a success, thanks to you!
