On September 6, at HIGH NOON (get it!) PST, the Second Life headquarters of the marijuana reform group NORML will be publicly launched at Lorax Island Resort (teleport SLURL). From their announcement:
Experience the freedom of marijuana law reform at the grand opening celebration of NORML’s Second Life Office. The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) has joined other advocacy organizations such as the ACLU, and the Non-Profit Commons (32 non-profits) in creating a space in the game world, Second Life, where people can functionally imagine a place where marijuana is legal and accessible…. This educational and recreational event will feature a chat with NORML’s founder and Legal Counsel Keith Stroup talking about the organization and answering questions, marijuana related music, NORML info and freebies for all who attend.
I’ll just overlook that "game world" bit and applaud this effort anyway. I covered the beta version of the virtual NORML office in a previous blog post.
