Gene Woo blogs about a cool new course he and Eric Gordon are teaching at Emerson College this fall called "Hub2." Described as "exploring, imagining, and building civic places in real and virtual spaces" the class was inspired by a Boston initiative to spur new kinds of civic engagement. From the flyer, students in the course will "research and redesign your own local neighborhood within the virtual environment of Second Life. In the process, you will develop your own understanding of how public spaces shape civic life and propose ways to enrich the spaces you inhabit in the city of Boston."
Sounds like a great way to use virtual world technology to enrich your real world experience and engagement. The course costs $431 for twelve weeks of classes, which includes full use of the Emerson College technology lab. Head here to register.
