I’ve been a loyal customer of Earthlink ever since they acquired the excellent Mindspring ISP back in the 2000. For the most part, I’ve been happy with their service. But for the past couple of years they have been harassing me about paying for an additional "premium email account" and dial-up fee, even though I don’t actually own a landline. It’s only $6, but it’s an additional bill I receive every month that I have to continue to explain to them means that I am being billed twice for email service that I already paid for through my high speed broadband service.
At least four customer service agents at Earthlink have told that they would take care of it, promising that I would no longer be double-billed. And yet, here I am again looking at two bills for the same email service.
I used to think that Earthlink was one of the good guys. But now I’m thinking that they are just part of the overall problem with internet access in this country: too much money for poor service.
