This is what happens when two grown men try and buy a Webkin stuffed animal together. They get the most manly creature in the menagerie: the German Shepherd. (They had no pitbull or t-rex.) His name is Turnip.
Seriously, I accompanied my colleague Rafi who got a Webkin for the Global Kid’s Online Leadership Program office for "research purposes." For those that don’t know, a Webkin is a stuffed animal that comes with an associated "virtual pet" that exists in a 3D online world where he or she can interact with other virtual pets. It’s one of the hottest virtual worlds out there, aimed firmly at the adolescent market.
The cashier in the toy store tried to interest us in the associated outfits, mousepads, trading cards and other paraphenalia associated with Webkins. We’ll see how much fun we get out of the basic model before "upgrading."
