For those that were not able to attend the launch of the International Justice Center in Second Life yesterday, the Second Life Cable Network provided their incredible high-quality production coverage of the event both live during the event and available as an archive both via video and audio. The launch featured a dynamic interchange between Mr. Luis Moreno-Ocampo, lead prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and Mr. Lloyd Axworthy, former foreign minister of Canada. Yours truly served as the moderator of the event, which mostly involved getting out of the way as these senior human rights statesmen had a high-level, frank discussion about how to create a more effective international system of global justice.
We had a number of difficult technical challenges involved in organizing this interactive conversation from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City into Second Life, Teen Second Life and the web. The Prosecutor and Lloyd Axworthy were very understanding and patient as we worked out the kinks. But at the end, I think the event came off quite well, with fifty-some avatars on the Main Grid, 20-some on the Teen Grid, and we believe many more viewers via the web live.
