Yesterday, I was at DePaul University streaming a live video feed from a student-oriented event on the International Criminal Court to the web at JusticeCenter.net and Second Life to the International Justice Center. This was the first time I had organized this largely on my own, which was somewhat stressful. Luckily, event organizer Liz Drew, the camera person Nat Soti, and tech support person Tony were very helpful and flexible.
Above is a quick video of what it looked like for me, sitting with two laptops and a camera beaming it straight to the interweb and the virtual world.
I think it went quite well, with about a couple dozen avatars
present in-world as well as fifty or so who watched via the web. The
virtual participants were engaged and interested in the subject matter,
and directed great questions to the panelists.
Special thanks to Mercury Metropolitan, Eirene Janus and Mariel
Voyunicef for much needed assistance in-world. You guys are awesome.
All day today I’m at the Midwest Regional Conference on the ICC, at Chicago Public Library. Should be a rich and stimulating day.
