I arrived today for the Second Life Community Convention and the Second Life Education Community Conference 200, being held at the lovely Marriott in Tampa, Florida. Although the festivities don’t officially start tomorrow, SLers are already here in force, soaking up the free wifi in the lobby and talking geek-speak in the bar.
I’m here with a whole crew from Global Kids, including Rafi, Amira, Meghan, Joyce/Rhiannon, and Selen. Barry Joseph is arriving tomorrow and my colleagues Shawna and Tabitha will be participating virtually from New York. We’re giving a half-dozen talks over the next two days, so GK will be well represented.
I’ve already run into Pathfinder Linden, Stroker Serpentine, Coughran Mayo, Intelligirl, Nexeus Fatale, Loki Clifton, and a bunch of other nice folks whose names escape me at the moment. It’s nice being among your people, that you normally only get to engage with virtually.
In the bar, Lyndon Heart was performing some great pop music on acoustic guitar. He even had "danceballs" on the ground with "Slow Dance v6.0" and "Waltz v3.0" written on them, which is an old joke but still funny.
Good luck guys 🙂
Rik, its funny, every year I see you I’m always thinking to myself “Oh it’s Rik!” as if I’ve known you for so many years! It’s almost become common place!
It was great that you were there! I’ll be seeing you soon!
