I overslept and missed Quaker Meeting this morning. So I decided instead to do some tai chi chuan in Cuyler Gore park across from my apartment in Fort Greene. It was a brisk but sunny Fall morning, with the breeze whipping around the orange and yellow leaves. Lovely conditions for some tai chi.
Here’s a video of me doing a basic tai chi form I learned in Geneva, Switzerland several years ago. Note that I’m rushing through it at about twice the speed as it’s supposed to be done. If anyone can help identify what style this, I’d much appreciate it. The teachers in Geneva all taught in French, and my marginal language skills meant that I had to pick this up mostly by observation.
The song in the background is called "Hope is Here" by Chang Jiu-Chuan on the "Asian Variations" album. Used under a Creative Commons sharealike license.
UPDATE November 10: I found out that I apparently learned Yang style of tai chi in Geneva, which is taught by the Tai Chi Open Club of Geneva. Good to know.
Thanks for post. Nice to see such good ideas.
