Here's a sweet performance by legendary popper Popin Pete last night at Swing and Soul that I'm at all weekend in Atlanta. His level of control and expressiveness is ridiculous and quite beautiful. And Pete is a living link to the origins of this unique style of dance, as a member of the Electric Boogaloos since 1978.
After the jump is some more video from the first night of Swing and Soul.
Mama Yeye, and her troupe of African dancers and drummers performing at Swing and Soul.
And here's some footage of a bunch folks doing the "Swing and Soul" line dance! Now I kinda wish I had gone to the trouble of learning it.
Holy craptastic! That was awesome. So sad I missed this – I can only imagine how much better it is to watch in person. He’s so….wow!
Yeah, he’s an amazing dancer and link to the history of popping as an artform. Can you believe the man is 47?
