Tonight, I and a friend enjoyed the hipster bluegrass stylings of the Dang-It Bobbys in the BAM Cafe in my nabe Fort Greene. I love going there because the space is so cool, it always draws a funky, diverse crowd, and the concerts are free! What's not to love?
The Dang-It Bobbys were quite talented, playing a diverse mix of country, folk, and bluegrass. My friend and I most enjoyed the lively bluegrass pieces, less so the slower ballads.
Adding to the mix tonight were a couple of dance performances during the Dang-It Bobbys concert: the solo performance in this video and a very clever duet. A couple of dancers mischievously balanced a glass of beer between them as they glided around each other. One could almost imagine they were just a hipster couple that wandered to the front of the stage. Really neat.
