This video is so many kinds of awesome, I don't know where to start. Korean lindy hoppers perform their version of the "Shim Sham" swing line dance for legendary lindy hopper Frankie Manning's 95th birthday. Instead of one of the standard swing tunes, these Korean dancers chose to do a modified version of the routine to a traditional "Arirang" song, that itself has been funked up quite a bit.
The best is the ending: "Dear Frankie, I hope you like our performance. It is not that great, but we prepared it for you."
Lindy hop scenes from around the world are going to be submitting their own version of Frankie's Shim Sham over the next days as part of "Frankie Week" from March 12-22. Can't wait to see what more creative stuff people come up with! It's going to hard to top this one.
