Yesterday and today I performed with the PMT breakers at the PMT Dance Showcase, which is always a blast. This season's show was particularly appealing to me because we had a "Star Wars" theme going on with our routine. I got to be the main evil jedi, leading my troop of Dark Side b-boys against the good jedi crew. In between was a young b-girl who is strong in the "Break Force," who we are both fighting to control.
It was all quite silly and nerdy. I think I enjoyed being the bad guy a bit too much, I'm afraid.
We had a great reaction from the crowd both shows, which was good since we were the opening act both times. I got to see several of the other impressive jazz, modern, contemporary and hip-hop pieces at the Showcase. It's refreshing for me to get exposed to other dance forms and get a renewed appreciation for the many ways that music and movement combine.
After the show, I got a very nice compliment from Kelly, the girlfriend of fellow b-boy Trevor. She said that my skills have caught up with my dancing ability and rhythm. Awwww.
Mad props in particular to Brook, our newest member, who at 13-years young inspires us all with her energy and dedication to the dance.
