My group, the Brooklyn Bombshell Revue, had a glorious day at the 2010 Mermaid Parade today. We were out in force, numbering around 50 dancers — one of the largest organized groups in the parade.
As per our tradition, we performed our routine twice, once in front of Famous Nathans, and once in front of the judges reviewing stand. (We actually did it a third time on the boardwalk for the bystanders who missed us on Surf Avenue.) The video above is from our Nathans performance.
After the jump, you can see the second performance for the judges…
Sadly, we were not able to complete our routine, presumably for some logistical reasons. But you can see the head judge saying some very nice words about us being the “judge’s choice”!
It was an exhausting day, followed by an exhausting evening of related
festivities. My feet are shot, but my heart is full of mermaidy
happiness.
Thanks to Arfer for taking these two videos for me. And very deep, heartfelt thanks to LilieBlue and Miss Behave for organizing an amazing effort this year! And congrats to all the dancers who worked so hard to represent the Revue with such enthusiasm, creativity and joy.
