Last night I had the pleasure of being at the CD release party for John Doke's new album "John Dokes Sings, George Gee Swings" at Swing 46 Supper Club in Times Square. John's got such a soulful and smokey voice that blends perfectly with the rich tone of George's big band. John sang several of the tracks on the album, from the rockin "Roll Em Pete" to the bluesy "Teach Me Tonight."
For those that didn't make it, John Dokes and the George Gee Orchestra will be playing next Tuesday, June 29 at the opening night of Midsummer Nights Swing at Lincoln Center. George goes head-to-head against the Bill Elliott Orchestra from California, which will be epic! Don't miss it!
See another video of John Dokes singing "I Could Have Told You" after the jump.
John's album is available on iTunes and Amazon.com. Or you can get it from him in person every Tuesday night, where he performs with George Gee at Swing 46.
