I love being a 1stFan of the Brooklyn Museum. It's always interesting getting a personal, curated view of what's happening at one of my favorite cultural institutions in the city. And at $25 a year, it's a steal!
On Saturday, 1stFans got a very special treat: an ice cream social on the roof of the museum! Normally closed to the public, we had to sign a quite comprehensive waiver form, which I think covered the museum in the case I decide to throw myself off the roof, or am thrown off the roof, or hit someone else on the way down, or damage the tilework when I hit the ground.
My friend Emily and I decided it was worth the risk and headed up to the roof with the rest of the group. It was a gorgeous day, and I gasped at the panoramic view of Brooklyn, Queens and the edges of the other boroughs you could see from up there. I could see my house from up there! (Or not.)
Our hosts Nitasha and Shelley handed out ice cream for all of us, which we enjoyed in between taking hundreds of pics of the skyline.
Not very cultural or artsy, but what a cool visit!
Wow!! what a beautiful view from the roof of Brooklyn Museum!! I loved it.
