Here's my sister and I blowing out the candles on our respective
birthday cakes, with a bunch of our cousins surrounding us.
This weekend, the birthday celebrating continued, this time in California with a big family BBQ at my mom's house. It was a fantastic party, which like all parties from the Santos clan was centered around food.
In the pic to the right you can see some of the feast, including "ukoy" shrimp cakes, pork ribs, steak skewers, kale salad, potato salad, dinuguan (blood pudding), and pasta with veggies. I got to the be the grill master, which is always a fun task. Besides the two birthday cakes, dessert included puto (rice cakes), babinka (more rice cakes), dream bars, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies, and various fruit.
Oh and mom brought in some Popeye's chicken later, because "there wasn't enough food"!!!
Besides eating, there was lots of fun activities, including kite flying, frisbee tossing, and playing in the pool with the kids. And much later a few of us headed out to a nightclub to dance to a local band playing pop music, funk and R&B.
I love my clan, and am so happy I got to celebrate my birthday with them.
