I'm sure I will have more coherent comments about the past three days once I've had some more sleep and time to think about it. For the moment, let me just say that this weekend totally rocked. I was up in the beautiful retreat center run by the Quakers called Powell House along with about 45 other members and attenders of the Brooklyn Quaker Meeting.
It was a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend spent getting to know the other members of my community, exploring different spiritual issues, eating delicious meals together, going on long hikes, singing round a bonfire, and just hanging out to all hours with cool people. Although I was ostensibly in charge of the weekend as the clerk of the retreat committee, I feel like all I had to do was create a space and a loose structure, and let other people fill it with their energy, enthusiasm, creativity, generosity, and wisdom. I wish all of my organizing activities were so effortless and joyful.
Quakers are just the awesomest humans.
