My local NPR affiliate WNYC broadcast recently an interesting piece on the swing great Cab Calloway on their show "Soundcheck." Cab Calloway of course was a primary inspiration for our website Yehoodi.com, and continues to get quite a bit of rotation on swing dance floors all over the world.

Soundcheck interviews Alyn Shipton to talk about his book Hi-de-ho: The Life of Cab Calloway. Alyn talks about Cab's unique sound, his entertaining presence, and how influential Cab was on future musicians, from OutKast to TuPac. Looks like a really good read, I'm hoping to get a copy of this soon!
This is so perfect as we kick off Baltimore’s fist lindy exchange, Hi-De-Hon, tonight! I am very much looking forward to reading the book. Thanks for blogging about it.
