Yesterday I had a fantastic time stomping around the Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland Hills with a bunch of my cousins. I had no idea that such a dense, beautiful redwood forest was so close to downtown Oakland!
The occasion was the birthday of my cousin Mel. So a bunch of the cousins (and their partners and kids) rolled out of bed to hike in the woods with him. For the event, I busted out my Canon Rebel, which I haven't used in forever. I think my shots came out pretty nice, particularly this one of a copse of redwoods that I shot in the middle of.
Afterwards, we celebrated with burgers and fries at the awesome burger joint Barneys. My current favorite burger there is the "Baja" — avocado, jack cheese, bacon and fresh salsa. Their curly fries are amazing, and I love their Turkish coffee milkshake.
We barely scratched the surface of the redwood forest during our two hour hike. I'm looking forward to more hiking adventures in the Bay Area!
