I realize I haven't updated my blog on the exciting changes to my role and my awesome team at the California Academy of Sciences.
The Digital Learning Department at the Academy has been busy launching some awesome pilot projects over the first year of it's existence, from a citizen science scavenger hunt in Mt. Tam, to a youth-designed game on earthquake preparedness, and a series of awesome teen-produced science videos. Now we are taking it to the next level with two concurrent programs starting this Fall on astronomy and plastics and the ocean.
To get our game on, we are buffing up our roles on the team. I am now the full-time Digital Learning Programs Manager, responsible for planning and delivering all digital learning youth programs at the Academy. I'm super excited about the upgrade and getting to put into operation these cool youth programs with my colleagues.
We are also hiring! We are looking for another Digital Learning Specialist to join our team. Here's the description:
The Digital Learning Specialist will work alongside the Senior Manager of Digital Learning to deepen Academy relationships with other like-minded informal learning organizations that perform similar work in the digital media and learning field. This person will develop program curriculum, co-teach classes and help with the reflection and reporting process. The primary focus of this position is the delivery of Digital Learning programs done in partnership with other external program partners.
If you are awesome at developing and running youth programs, well versed in digital technologies, and have a background in science in sustainability, you might be who we are looking for. Head to the Academy site for more info and to apply.
