Tomorrow afternoon, I'm headed off to Europe for the Herrang Dance Camp, which I call the Burning Man for lindy hoppers. It's a five week intensive, chaotic gathering of thousands of lindy hoppers from all over the world for workshops, social dancing, performances, parties, socializing and much much more. Being there is like being transported to another planet where everyone is deeply into the thing you love and excited to share it with you.
It's been five years since my last trip to Herrang, and it's long past due. I'm going for just a week and a half this time, unfortunately. In my experience, you need at least two weeks to truly get the Herrang experience, as I recounted in this blog post from my last visit. Still, I'm sure it will be a blast.
Really if you have been dancing lindy hop for more than five years and it is a part of your core identity, you owe it to yourself to make it to Herrang at least once. See you on the other side…
