I’m still getting a kick out of bouldering, two years into it. I’ve worked myself into the V4-V5 range, which is basically intermediate at my gym.
This V5 has been a fun challenge the last couple of weeks. Upon first seeing it, I was daunted by how burly most of the individual moves looked, and how few footholds there were. But slowly I’ve been working on getting each individual move down.
Finally yesterday I put the whole thing together and got the final hold. Here’s how it went.
Several things I like about this attempt:
- I was pretty pumped after a long climbing session, so I had to really try hard on this attempt, as you can hear.
- You can hear a couple of other climbers cheering me on.
- One of them actually runs out to spot me when I’m at the end, in case I fall. So sweet!
It’s moments like that that remind me how cool the climbing scene is.
I knew that the route was likely going away tomorrow, because of a big climbing competition happening at my gym this weekend. So I went back to the gym today and finally topped this route! Woo hoo!
The ending is pretty sketchy and balancy, but not very interesting to watch. So I didn’t film it.
