Last Saturday, I started a new physical therapy regime, making me officially old, I guess. It was prescribed by a therapist at Kaiser to manage, and hopefully reduce, the knee pain that I have been experiencing from “Jumper’s Knee” or Patellar Tendinitis.
For the most part, it’s been going well. The exercises and stretches don’t take long to do and require only the most minimal equipment. On the other hand, the idea that I will be doing these exercises three times a day for the rest of my life is not an easy pill to swallow.
The three exercises are:
Side Plank on Elbow: This one is the worst. I can barely manage a 20 second hold, so I know this is working hip and butt muscles that I don’t normally use.
Side Stepping with Resistance at Ankles: This one is fine, although I am tempted to cheat on the squat.
Half Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch with Chair: I really like this one. The stretch feels super good! The PT says I’m pretty flexible, so I need to work on my form (which is not good in this pic.)
