Today I’m celebrating six months of physical therapy!
On the plus side, doing daily PT I believe has helped to mitigate knee pain and be able to walk for longer periods of time. And the exercises are not too onerous — basically they are part of my daily morning prep and evening wind down, which I look forward to.
On the meh side, I’m definitely not back to where I was a couple of years ago, when I could run, jump around, and squat with ease. Doing most activities that involve leg strength involves a longer warm up, and less repetitions, like doing kip-ups or sprints.
I am trying to accept that this is the new normal, which is a bit of a bummer. But I’m also grateful for what I do have, which is overall great health and the ability to do the things that give me the greatest joy — dancing, skating, traveling, eating yummy things, being in community.
