Lindy Hoppers Dax and Sarah on New Dance Reality Show “Live To Dance”

Posted on January 6, 2011 by

I suppose I should be excited about this new dance reality show "Live to Dance," but the promos and brief videos I've seen are so saccharine-filled fluff that it hurts my brain.  Bright lights! Standing ovations! Gushing judges! ZOMG! Paula Abdul! That said, I'm very excited to see Dax Hock and Sarah Breck on…

Rik Rides the Train: Playing Dance Central for First Time! (video)

Posted on December 29, 2010 by

Here's a somewhat embarassing video of me playing "Dance Central" on the XBox 360 for the first time at Spud's place.  The song: "Com'n Ride It" by the Quad City DJs (1995.) The level: Medium.  The experience: AWESOME. Damn, I really want this game now.

My NYC Bucket List

Posted on December 28, 2010 by

I've been working on my list of things I want to be sure and do before I leave New York at the end of January. Since I've lived here for so long, there aren't a lot of things I want to do that I haven't done. But there are a few that I'm itching to…

Dancing on the Nostalgia Subway Train Part II (video, pics)

Posted on December 21, 2010 by

On Sunday, 80-some lindy hoppers gathered for a "lindy bomb" of the Nostalgia Subway Train that runs during the holidays on the F Train line. It was an incredible day of dancing, great music, and random New York weirdness. At about 12:30, a bunch of us lindy hoppers were gathered at the 2nd Avenue Subway…

New York Moments: Dancing on a moving subway train, then in a divey bar in Williamsburg

Posted on December 12, 2010 by

Today was one of those days when I love New York so much that it hurts to think of leaving.  Where else could I be dancing on a classic 1940s subway train with a couple hundred other vintage attired revelers, while a hot jazz band plays?  The occasion was the "Nostalgia Train" that the MTA…

Awesome Time Doing B-boy Piece “Ill Train” at Frim Fram!

Posted on December 11, 2010 by

My crew and I had a great time performing for the crowd at the Frim Fram Jam on Thursday. Fellow dancers Will, Eugene, and young Brooke got to do our b-boy piece "Ill Train" one last time for an appreciative audience of 150 lindy hoppers, which is always a blast. Our choreographer Pavan (in the…

The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers on Conan Last Night (video)

Posted on December 9, 2010 by

Here's video of a very dark dance piece by the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers on the Conan O'Brian show last night. Seemed pretty subdued and moody for a live piece.  The crowd hardly seemed hyped up at all.  Odd choice. That said, last night's episode of the LXD was actually pretty good, if too short.
